In nature, change comes slowly. From cavernous canyons dug by the persistent wind over thousands of years to glaciers moving through icy waters at less than a snail's pace, the great outdoors takes its sweet time. But the folks at Ace Adventure Resort are ensuring that their nature-loving fanbase won't have to wait nearly that long for exciting additions. The West Virginia vacation spot will add not only jobs to the local economy but additional adventure vacation options to their riverside resort.
While white-water rafting, zip line tours and rock climbing still show off the best of the New River Gorge area, new attractions will be filling the wilderness with laughter this summer. Eurobungee mimics the excitement of a trampoline and a bungee swing in one acrobatic experience. Get the air of the tramp combined with the bungee sling for extra power. Spider Mountain creates a thick rubber band web for visitors to climb through on their way to the top of a tall tower. Take the slide back down or bounce back through the rubber maze to the bottom. While Stand Up Paddelboarding has been a popular offering at the park for years, a new Yoga course will allow visitors to practice the ancient art of flexibility and balance while floating on the water.
The park will also be expanding its footprint, leaving a larger impression on the New River Gorge. The Lakeside Dining Lodge, a scenic dining hall on the park's west side, is set for expansion and a full redesign, which will include an expanded dining area, a massive pig roaster and a gazebo for lounging in the sun.
Along with new activities for the Summer season, park owners are planning larger attractions to be added to their slate of activities. A Frisbee golf course is currently under construction, adding trails and baskets to accommodate players. And for winter visitors, 2013 will bring the largest addition to the new Ace: a tubing course. The Tube Park Snow Tubing Course will bring all the excitement of snow tubing to Ace's winter offerings.
While some parts of nature may never change, Ace owners have made the evolution of their adventure camp a priority, consistently adding new features. For more information, visit http://www.AceRaft.com.
Hannah Bear's Christmas
Wake up, Hanna Bear!Hanna Bear can smell winter coming. It's time to find a den and snooze through the cold days and nights until spring because that is what bears do. But this year Hanna longs to see Christmas, so her friends agree to get her up for the special day. It isn't that easy to wake up a sleeping bear. When the mountain goat butts the door of her den, Hanna doesn't stir. So the moose tries, but even the sound of his antlers scraping back and forth doesn't wake up Hanna. The spruce grouse tries, and then the snowshoe hare, but no one can make enough noise. What are they going to do? They don't want to disappoint Hanna. But each one has made as much noise as they can. What more can they do?Children will enjoy making their own brand of noise as they follow along with the animals and help wake up Hanna. And they'll revel in the magic of a Christmas night, as they follow Hanna and her friends through the woods. A fun story for little ones about when to cooperate, when to make noise, and when to be silent.
